Throughout this course, student understanding is emphasized through the use of manipulatives, which are then pictured on the worktext page before progressing to abstract representations. This hands-on approach ensures that students develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts before moving on to more complex skills. Each lesson is carefully structured to scaffold learning, with a review of previously taught concepts included at the bottom of the second page. This reinforcement helps solidify understanding and ensures that students build upon a strong foundation as they progress through the curriculum. Throughout the course, students will encounter familiar characters, Digit the Clown and Cecilia, who provide guidance and support on their mathematical journey. Their presence adds an element of fun and familiarity to the learning experience, helping students feel engaged and motivated to succeed.
